Our very first CakeAway retreat promises to be something special. A fully immersive residential over five unforgettable days. Intentionally small to ensure a personal experience. Imagine morning coffee with cake friends, hands-on learning experiences, dinner and wine with fellow artists, and spa time to recharge. DAY 1 - THURSDAY 17th SEPTEMBER
Your experience begins the moment you arrive. Check in from 3pm and settle into your private room where a welcome gift awaits. Meet your fellow attendees for a beautiful afternoon tea with a glass of Prosecco and start to unwind and relax. In the evening, we’ll head to a local pub quiz night together - that promises to be full of laughter and friendship.

DAY 2 - FRIDAY 18th SEPTEMBER
Friday begins with a full breakfast before your first expert-led class. You'll spend a full day with master edible painter Emily Hankins learning new techniques, refining your skills and connecting with fellow creatives. Refreshments are provided all day long and we'll stop for a hot and cold buffet lunch together with the tutors before continuing the class in the afternoon. In the evening, we'll head to a local restaurant for a lovely two course group dinner before retiring for the night to recharge.

DAY 3 - SATURDAY 19th SEPTEMBER
Saturday is all about creativity and enjoying the experience. After a full breakfast you'll head to your second class - a full day sculpting masterclass with Victoria White. You'll learn how to create a realistic dinosaur bust and claws; learning how to create those haunting eyes, realistic skin texture, open mouth and teeth and more. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day and we'll retire to the lounge for a gorgeous buffet lunch. In the evening you'll enjoy a two course meal in the hotel restaurant with a bottle of wine included.

DAY 4 - SUNDAY 20th SEPTEMBER
Sunday will see you take part in your final masterclass. After a full breakfast, head to the Aylesford Suite to step into the magical world of sugar flowers. You'll have a full day masterclass with Sugar Floral Artist of the Year 2024 Debbie Lock will teach you how to make botanically correct roses, carnations and lunaria using brand new techniques and methods. After a light lunch, we'll return for the second half of the masterclass, before stopping for a sumptuous two course Sunday lunch. After dinner there will be free time before heading back to your private room for the final night - because who wants to travel home after a long day and with a full belly?

DAY 5 - MONDAY 21st SEPTEMBER
With check out at noon, you can enjoy a well earned lie in. After a full breakfast and a slow morning, head over to the Aylesford Suite for one final surprise - a FREE expert talk with queen of structured cakes Chloe Cheshire of Yes, it's Cake! If you've always wanted to do structured or gravity defying cakes, but don't know where to start then this seminar is one you definitely don't want to miss! Over two hours (with refreshments and pastries provided) Chloe will explain the fundamentals of creating structured cakes so you can leave with the confidence to start yourself. This is a relaxed session where you'll have time to ask questions and chat with Chloe. The day will end around 2.30pm, at which point you'll be free to make your way home.

Who is the CakeAway Academy for?
Our CakeAway retreats are perfect for cake decorators, sugar artists, small business owners, hobbyists wanting to elevate their skills or start their own business, and anyone who loves learning, socialising or networking.
What if I don't know anyone there?
Most attendees of our events arrive alone, but leave with lifelong industry friendships. We pride ourselves on creating a relaxed, fun, friendly and welcoming environment. If you've ever been to one of our events before (or know someone who has) you'll know we won't let anyone feel left out.
