Chef Serdar Yener has over 50 years of experience in cake decorating. His vast international experience and artistic talent has been acknowledged by his peers both in Australia and abroad. He has competed in international competitions and been awarded "Best Pastry Artist" in Igeho, Switzerland 1987 and “Best Pastry Chef” in Singapore, Food Asia 1990. His Sugar centrepieces are displayed in museums at Champagne in France, Culinary Art Museum in Switzerland and The National Museum in Singapore. Serdar has also judged at major culinary competitions in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and USA World Pastry Championships.
After years of leading pastry operations in many international 5 star hotels in Europe and Asia, he moved to Gold Coast, Australia in 1992, opened his family business and produced thousands of wedding and novelty cakes. Liz Ungless has been playing with sugar for over 40 years and it is about as opposite as you could get from her old day job as a computer programmer. Liz has been teaching and demonstrating for over 30 years and travels regularly throughout the UK and overseas to share her knowledge.
Born in Scotland, Liz lived in Africa for 26 years and this is where she discovered the world of sugarcraft. Having been taught by some of South Africa’s best teachers, she began with royal icing and progressed to the wonderful art of sugar flowers. After returning to the UK in 1992, Liz immediately began demonstrating flowers to the various sugarcraft clubs in East Anglia and has been visiting some of them on a yearly basis for over 20 years.
Since semi-retiring from full time work some 17 years ago, Liz has been running Sugar Design and is a multiple gold flower award winner with a number of best in Class awards.
Due to the difficulty of obtaining local sensibly priced flower and leaf veiners, she has created her own range of food grade, botanically correct, silicone veiners and matching cutters. The range began, in her husband’s words, as a few little veiners for an online course…. and now features veiners and cutters for over 75 different plants.
